
Board Member -Alternate to the Principal Secretary Ministry of Energy
Eng. Stephen Nzioka is a dedicated professional with over 31 years of experience in the energy, environment, and agricultural sectors, currently serving as the Director of Renewable Energy at the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum in Kenya. In this role, he is responsible for policy review and implementation, coordinating the Kenya Off-Grid Solar Access Project (KOSAP), and representing Kenya at climate change events (COPs).
His previous roles include:
Deputy Director of Renewable Energy, where he focused on guiding counties in Waste to Energy projects and formulating renewable energy policies.
Director of Environment, Water, and Sanitation at Nairobi Metropolitan Services, overseeing solid waste management initiatives and water distribution projects that significantly improved access for informal settlements.
Senior positions in agriculture and environmental management, including as a Provincial Environment and Land Development Officer and District Agricultural Officer.
He began his career in education, teaching subjects such as Physics and Mathematics, and has also served as the Head of the Agricultural Engineering Department at Yatta School of Agriculture.
