We develop and implement regulations under the Nuclear Regulatory Act to guide the safe use of nuclear and radiation technologies. Our work includes establishing licensing systems, inspection mechanisms, and national radiation safety standards.
🏥 Licensing & Compliance
We license and inspect medical, industrial, research, and educational facilities that use ionizing radiation. Through routine and targeted inspections, we ensure compliance and strengthen safety in areas such as radiology, radiotherapy, nuclear medicine, and industrial radiography.
🛡️ Radiation Protection & Nuclear Security
We oversee radiation safety in both public and private facilities and implement security measures for high-risk radioactive sources. We also participate in international peer reviews and cooperation programmes to strengthen nuclear security.
♻️ Radioactive Waste Management
We support the safe management of radioactive waste through national policy development and infrastructure projects. This includes progress toward establishing the Central Radioactive Waste Processing Facility to safely manage disused radioactive sources.
🚨 Emergency Preparedness
We develop national frameworks for responding to radiological emergencies and work with security and disaster management agencies to build the capacity of first responders.
